The Equine Art of Blair Lyons
What a HOTTIE! This is a drastic Breyer Ranch Horse Custom. He is a commission. I have repositioned his
left foreleg, resculpted his mane and tail, totally cut off and resculpted his head and neck (I used the plastic
head as a base and completely redid the nose and eyes, and I threw away the old neck and started again
from scratch). I carved and refined his legs and barrel, carved his raised hooves, fixed his ears a bit,
added wrinkles and veining and corrected his boy parts. This guy also took a ton of sanding. I began
painting him this really bright chestnut color, but it didn't really match his character, so I started over and
painted him a crazy tovero with one blue eye. Also, in the course of working on this guy, I have now
dropped him twice and broken his tail and chipped an ear (which has seriously slowed me down, but he's
all fixed now!). That would be two more times than I've ever dropped any other custom. Thanks to his
owner Elizabeth for the great final pics!
